About
Welcome to The INN on Trout River! Our 19th-century boutique inn located right in the heart of Montgomery Vermont offers a chic but cozy home-away-from-home. Our beautifully renovated Inn, which was a former lumber baron’s home in the late 1800s, offers guests a chance to step back in time and melt into a warm, inviting space with old-world charm and modern luxury. Come experience a true taste of history in Vermont’s most jaw-dropping region.
In addition to the countless pieces of living history – such as our original carriage house, multiple authentic fireplaces, antiques, and artwork – The INN features an inviting bar and restaurant serving up hearty, worldly comfort foods with gourmet twists. Inspired by Vermont’s seasons, some of our menu items change to include only the freshest of local ingredients. Join us in our romantic dining room, inviting tavern, or tented deck for mouthwatering delicacies like poutine with cheddar cheese curds made daily or an apple cider martini with Vermont-grown apples. One thing is for sure: we’re not your Grandmother’s B&B!
The INN offers an abundance of all-season recreational options and is conveniently located to the majestic Jay Peak ski resort. Known far and wide for the Jay Cloud – consistently delivering the best snowfalls on the East – Jay Peak is a burgeoning four-season resort with an indoor waterpark and 36-hole championship golf. The Northeast Kingdom is known as Vermont’s Playground, and from canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, or disc golfing in the warm weather to skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, or ice fishing in the cold weather, we’ve got it right here. Whether you’re here to crush the Long Trail or just to make your own après-ski (with or without the ski part!), The INN is here to turn your Vermont vacation vision into a reality.
After a day on the slopes or hiking, biking, or swimming in warmer months, come home to The INN to enjoy the best of Vermont hospitality. And don’t forget the best part - we wouldn’t be a Vermont inn if we didn’t start your day with a country-style breakfast! Wake up with piping-hot artisan coffee, apple currant French toast, buttermilk pancakes, a Vermont cheese and veggie omelet, or one of our other favorites… as long as it’s smothered in Vermont maple syrup collected and boiled right in town by our friend, John K!
Our restaurant is open from Thanksgiving until Mud Season (Around end of April) Thursday-Saturday, Holiday Sundays, Dec 23- Jan 1, opening at 5pm. Reservations highly recommended.
Come join us at The INN on Trout River for an unforgettable experience in the four-season playground of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. We look forward to seeing you!
