The Long Trail trail runs the entire length of Vermont following the main ridge of the Green Mountain range stretching from Massachusetts to the Canadian border. It is the oldest long-distance trail in the United States, built between 1920 and 1930 by the Green Mountain Club. While your passing over Jay Peak, check out thei resort’s Hiking Trail Guide and hop on Vermont’s only aerial tram for a spin.
The Catamount Trail is the only other trail besides the Long Trail that takes hikers through the entire state of Vermont. This section (31) begins on Gilpin Mountain (off Rte. 242) the heads down into the town of Jay and up to the Canadian border through North Troy.
